Page Content Sections - Photo Album Section

Use the Photo Album Section when you want to show one saved photo album as either a thumbnail grid or a slideshow.

What this section is for

This section is useful for event galleries, historical photos, facility tours, and other image collections you want visitors to browse.

Helpful details:

  • The section pulls images from one album selected in Photo Albums.
  • The visible heading on the page comes from the album's name.
  • The Section Title is only for internal reference in the page editor.
  • Images display in the same order saved on the photo album.
  • The section defaults to a white background when no background color is chosen.

Fields in the Photo Album Section

Section Title

Use Section Title to help identify this section while editing the page.

Helpful detail:

  • This field does not appear on the website.

Background Color

Use Background Color to choose the section background.

Helpful details:

  • If you do not choose one, the section falls back to white.
  • This is especially noticeable when you use contained thumbnails or lighter images.

Photo Album

Use Photo Album to choose which saved album the section should display.

Helpful details:

  • The dropdown is filled from active photo albums.
  • The selected album's name becomes the visible heading on the page.

Style

Use Style to choose how visitors browse the album.

Available options:

  • Thumbnail Grid, click to view larger images
  • Slideshow of all images in album

Helpful details:

  • The grid style shows square thumbnails on the page.
  • Clicking a grid thumbnail opens a larger modal carousel with next and previous controls.
  • The slideshow style shows a carousel directly on the page with next and previous controls.

Thumbnail Options

Use Thumbnail Options to control how images fit into the square thumbnail spaces when Style is set to the grid layout.

Available options:

  • Grid Thumbnails Cover Square
  • Grid Thumbnails Contained in Square

Helpful details:

  • Cover Square fills each thumbnail space and may crop part of the image.
  • Contained in Square keeps the full image visible and may leave open space around it.
  • This setting affects the grid layout, not the slideshow layout.

Active

Use Active to control whether this section is included when the page is rendered.

Helpful detail:

  • If Active is turned off, the section stays in the page editor but does not appear on the website.

Important behavior to know

  • This section does not have a separate visible headline field.
  • The album name is shown as the section heading in both styles.
  • Grid thumbnails show a hover message that says Click to View Image.
  • The grid layout opens a modal carousel for larger image viewing.
  • The slideshow layout keeps the carousel directly on the page.
  • Image captions appear with the larger images when a caption is saved on that media item.
  • Image alt text is used in the rendered images.
  • On default pages, the section uses the main page content width.
  • On landing pages, the section content is wrapped inside a centered container.

  2. Open the page you want to edit.
  3. Go to the Page Content area.
  4. Click Add new section.
  5. Choose Photo Album Section.
  6. Enter a Section Title for internal reference.
  7. Choose a Background Color if needed.
  8. Select the Photo Album you want to display.
  9. Choose a Style.
  10. If you chose the grid style, choose Thumbnail Options.
  11. Make sure Active is turned on.
  12. Save the page and review it on the website.

Practical setup tips

  • Name the album carefully, because that album name becomes the visible heading.
  • Keep image aspect ratios consistent for a cleaner-looking album.
  • Use Cover Square when you want a more uniform grid.
  • Use Contained in Square when you do not want important parts of an image cropped.
  • Add captions in the Media Library when visitors need extra context on larger images.
  • Optimize images for website use before uploading. The helper text recommends about 1920 pixels wide for horizontal images and about 150 KB or smaller when possible.
  • If you want explanatory text above the gallery, add a Simple Text Section nearby.

If the section is not behaving as expected

Check these items first:

  • the page was saved after your edits
  • the section's Active toggle is turned on
  • the selected photo album is active
  • the selected photo album contains images
  • the images are in the order you expect inside the album
  • you chose the grid style if you expect click-to-open thumbnails
  • captions, titles, or alt text were added on the media items themselves if you expect to see them
