Page Content Sections - Membership Message Section
Use the Membership Message Section when you want signed-in members to see the message saved on their Membership Type.
What this section is for
This section is usually placed on a member-only dashboard or renewal page.
Helpful details:
- It does not have normal section fields like a headline, color selector, or active toggle.
- The message content is managed from Membership Types, not inside the page section.
- On default pages, the message uses the main content width.
- On landing pages, the message is centered inside a narrower container.
- The page's own permissions still control who can reach the page.
Where the message content comes from
Configure the message in Membership Types using these fields:
- General Message
- Renewal Message
- Late Message
- Lapsed Message
Helpful detail:
- These fields use the rich text editor, so you can add formatting and links.
Available message variables
You can use these placeholders in Membership Type messages:
{first_name}{last_name}{renewal_start_date}{membership_due_date}{late_end_date}{membership_type}{membership_status}{amount_due}{dues_price}{processing_fee}{late_fee}
Important behavior to know
- The section shows nothing for visitors who are not signed in.
- The section shows nothing if the signed-in member does not have a Membership Type.
- The section shows nothing if there is no applicable message to display.
- It does not leave a blank space when nothing applies.
- A payment success alert can appear after a successful payment when the page is loaded with
payment=success. - Status-specific messages take priority over the general message.
- The message order is Renewal for unpaid members, Late for late members, Lapsed for lapsed members, then General when no higher-priority status message applies.
- A Pay Now button can be added automatically for Renewal and Late messages when online membership payment is available.
- The Lapsed Message does not add that payment button in this section.
- Because the content is rendered from rich text, saved links and formatting appear on the page.
How to add a Membership Message Section to a page
- Open the page you want to edit.
- Go to the Page Content area.
- Click Add new section.
- Choose Membership Message Section.
- Save the page.
- Open Membership Types and edit the message fields for the membership types you use.
- Review the page while signed in as a member account.
Practical setup tips
- Place this section near the top of a member dashboard or renewal page so members see it quickly.
- Keep the General Message short and welcoming.
- Use the status-specific messages for renewal timing, due dates, and next steps.
- Use the placeholders so dates and amounts update from member data instead of being typed by hand.
- Review messages for each membership type separately, since each type can have different wording.
- If you want extra explanation around the message, add a Simple Text Section nearby.
If the section is not behaving as expected
Check these items first:
- the page was saved after the section was added
- the page is accessible to signed-in members
- the member has a Membership Type assigned
- the relevant message field on that Membership Type is filled in
- the member's membership status matches the message you expect to see
- online membership payment settings are available if you expect a Pay Now button
- you are viewing the page as a real member account rather than as a public visitor
