Page Content Sections - News Section
Use the News Section when you want to show a full list of approved news items on a page.
What this section is for
This section is designed for a main news or news archive page.
Helpful details:
- It pulls in approved news items automatically.
- It does not have a category selector.
- On default pages, the section uses the main page content area.
- On landing pages, the content is centered inside a narrower container.
Fields in the News Section
Headline
Use Headline if you want a visible title above the news list.
Headline Level
Use Headline Level to choose the heading level for the section title.
Helpful detail:
- If you do not choose one, the section defaults to H2.
Intro Content
Use Intro Content to add instructions or context above the news list.
This is a good place for:
- a short introduction to the page
- context about the types of updates members will find here
- guidance about checking back for new announcements
Active
Use Active to control whether this section is included when the page is rendered.
Helpful detail:
- If Active is turned off, the section stays in the page editor but does not appear on the website.
Important behavior to know
- This section does not have a Section Title field.
- This section does not have category filtering.
- Only approved news items are included here.
- News is sorted with pinned items first, then by Published Date with newer dates first.
- Each item links to its full news page.
- Each item shows the headline, published date, optional teaser image, and teaser blurb.
- This section currently shows all matching news items on one page. Pagination code exists in the template, but it is not active in the current layout.
- The section uses active and activation-date rules, but it does not separately hide future-dated published items on its own.
- If there are no matching news items, the page shows a simple message saying there are no news items right now.
How to add a News Section to a page
- Open the page you want to edit.
- Go to the Page Content area.
- Click Add new section.
- Choose News Page.
- Add a Headline if you want one.
- Set Headline Level if needed.
- Add Intro Content if you want text above the news list.
- Make sure Active is turned on.
- Save the page.
- Review the page on the website.
Practical setup tips
- Use teaser images and teaser blurbs so the list is easier to scan.
- Pin only the most important items so the top of the page stays useful.
- If an item is not ready to appear, review its approval and active settings.
- If you only want a smaller preview block, use a News Teasers (3) Section instead.
- Keep the intro brief so visitors reach the latest updates quickly.
If the section is not behaving as expected
Check these items first:
- the page was saved after your edits
- the section's Active toggle is turned on
- the news item is approved
- the news item is active and within its activation and deactivation dates
- you are not expecting categories to filter this section
- you remember that pagination is not currently active for this section
