News

News is where you create articles and announcements for your club's website. Each news item gets its own URL, can be pinned to the top of the list, and can include teaser images for social sharing and preview blocks.

How news works

Create and manage articles in News under Site Builder.
The main news listing is typically a page with the slug news, using the News Page section.
Each article has its own detail URL at /news/{slug}, rendered through the page with slug news-detail.
Smaller preview blocks can be added to other pages using the News Teasers (3) Section.

Creating a news item

Go to News in the Club Management Portal.
Click Create News or open an existing item.
Fill in the setup fields: Page/Window Title, Published Date, and Slug.
Write the Headline, Teaser Blurb, and Content.
Add a Teaser Image (4:3 crop) and optionally a Social Media Image (40:21 crop).
Assign Categories if you want the item to appear in filtered teaser sections.
Set Activation Date and Deactivation Date if you want timed visibility.
Save the item.
Use the Preview Link (available after saving) to review the article before publishing.
Turn on Approved when it's ready for visitors to see.

Key fields

Page/Window Title — The browser tab title and search-facing title. Can differ from the visible Headline.

Published Date — Used for sorting. Non-pinned items show newest first.

Slug — The article's URL at /news/{slug}. Must be unique across news items.

Meta Description — Short summary for search results and social previews.

Pinned — Keeps the article at the top of news lists. Pinned items sort by Published Date among themselves.

Active — The main on/off switch.

Approved — Controls whether the article appears publicly. Unapproved items can still be reviewed via the Preview Link.

Categories — Shared with Events and FAQs. The full News Page section shows all approved items regardless of category. The News Teasers section filters by category.

Headline — The visible title visitors read on the website.

Teaser Blurb — The short summary shown in news lists and teaser blocks.

Content — The full article body.

Teaser Image — Shown in news lists and teaser sections. Uses a required 4:3 crop. You can upload or choose from the Media Library.

Teaser Image Alt Text — Describes the teaser image for accessibility.

Social Media Image — Used for link previews when the article is shared. Uses a required 40:21 crop. If omitted, Clubistry falls back to the teaser image for sharing metadata.

How news appears on the website

Main news page — Shows approved, active items. Pinned items appear first, then the rest sort by Published Date (newest first). Visitors see the headline, date, optional teaser image, and blurb.

Individual article pages — Each article renders at /news/{slug} through the news-detail page. Inactive or unapproved items aren't accessible to normal visitors.

Teaser sections — The News Teasers (3) Section shows up to three items, optionally filtered by category. Great for home pages and landing pages.
