Promo Blocks
Promo Blocks are reusable linked callouts — each one combines a headline, image, and link into a promotional element that can appear in page content sections and in sidebars on pages using the Default layout.
Creating a promo block
- Go to Promo Blocks under Site Builder.
- Click Create Promo Block.
- Enter a Name (internal only — for your team to identify the block later).
- Write the Headline (this is what visitors see).
- Add Text and Button Text if the layout supports them (see layout differences below).
- Enter the URL the block should link to. Use a full URL for external links, or a path like
/eventsfor internal pages. - Upload an Image and crop to the required 4:3 shape. Add Alt Text.
- Turn on Is External Link? if the URL should open in a new tab.
- Turn on Show in Interior Pages (Sidebar)? if the block should also appear in sidebar rotation on Default layout pages.
- Save.
How promo blocks are used
In page content sections
Promo blocks can be selected in the Promo Blocks (3) Section on a page. The section decides which blocks to show and in what order.
In sidebars
On pages using the Default layout, active promo blocks with Show in Interior Pages (Sidebar)? turned on can appear in the sidebar. Up to three are shown, selected randomly. Blocks already used in a promo section on the same page are excluded from that page's sidebar rotation. Landing layout pages don't include the sidebar promo area.
What different layouts show
The appearance depends on where the promo block is used:

Every layout uses the saved link.
Tips
- Keep headlines short — they need to work on hover and on small screens.
- Match the image to the link destination so the promo feels clear at a glance.
- Add Alt Text whenever the image adds meaning.
- Turn Active off instead of deleting a block you might need again later.
- Review the finished promo on an actual page, especially for hover-heavy templates.
If a promo block isn't working as expected
- Is it marked Active?
- Is the URL correct?
- Was the image saved and cropped?
- Is Is External Link? on if you expected a new tab?
- Is Show in Interior Pages (Sidebar)? on if you expected sidebar display?
- Does the page section template support the fields you expected to see?
- Is the block already in a promo section on the same page (which excludes it from sidebar rotation)?
