Header Images
Use Header Images to manage the wide banner images that can appear at the top of pages using the Default layout.
How Header Images work
Header Images currently work this way:
- one active header image is chosen at random when a page loads
- header images are used on pages that use the Default layout
- pages using the Landing Page layout do not show header images
- if there are no active header images with usable media, no header image is shown
If you do not want header images on Default layout pages, deactivate or remove all header images.
Create a Header Image
- Go to Header Images in the Club Management Portal.
- Click Create Header Image.
- Enter a Name.
- Add the image in Image.
- Crop it to the required shape.
- Leave Active turned on if it should be eligible to display.
- Save the record.
Fields in Header Images
Name
Use Name as an internal label so your team can recognize the image later.
Helpful detail:
- the name is for admin use and is not shown as visible page text on the public site
Image
Use Image to upload a new banner image or choose existing media.
Helpful details:
- the image must be cropped to a 4.5:1 aspect ratio
- after uploading or choosing existing media, use the crop controls in the field and then save the header image record
- the current maximum upload size is 10MB
- the help text recommends keeping the file around 150 KB or smaller when possible
- landscape-style images usually work best because the crop is very wide and short
Active
Use Active to control whether that header image can be selected for display.
Helpful details:
- active images are eligible for the random rotation
- inactive images stay in the admin area but are not shown on the live site
What appears on the website
After you save:
- an active header image can appear above the main page content on Default layout pages
- the displayed image is chosen from the active header image records at random
- the image is shown as a wide banner in the page header area
- you cannot assign different header images to specific pages through this feature
Tips for good header images
These choices usually work well:
- use wide images with a clear focal point near the center
- avoid placing important details near the far left or right edges
- avoid putting important text inside the image
- keep several active images if you want variety across page loads
- deactivate seasonal or outdated images instead of deleting them right away
If header images are not appearing the way you expected
Check these items first:
- at least one image is marked Active
- the image record has usable media attached
- the page you are viewing uses the Default layout rather than Landing Page
- the live page has been refreshed
